We had trouble finding pictures of Yvonne because she was always the one behind the camera. Typical. In our close knit family here at Shreveport Green, she was the organizer…the one who would take our dreams and vision and turn them into reality... Arriving at Shreveport Green in 1993, she co-wrote the first ShrevCORPS grant because she loved working with youth. She was good with them - having enough of a firm hand while at the same time allowing them to experiment and grow. That typified her entire life. Shreveport Green was a large part of her life, but there were other equally important parts. She enjoyed a close marriage, a warm family, indeed welcoming her mother and mother-in-law into her home when they couldn't live alone. She had a very strong faith, always an active and important part of her church as well as an active leader in the United Methodist Cursillo program. She felt a calling for Kairos, a ministry for female relatives of incarcerated men. She had friends all over the country from her leadership role in Eastern Star, in which she reactivated her membership to get her mother involved and ended up in a state office! She touched so many people with her infectious attitude toward excellence. With our corpsmembers, she expected the best out of them and they responded. We still hear from over 90% of the over 500 young people that have graduated from ShrevCORPS. She set the standard for organizational skills – both in our organization and out. She was a special person... loving, steadfast, genuine, faithful. We will miss her very much.

"Yvonne was a hard working, caring individual. She loved her job and the ability to help people. I've seen her save stray animals and misguided youth over and over again! She was my coworker and my friend." Casaundra Calloway.
"Yvonne was my inspiration. She was genuine and trustworthy and one of the most generous people I knew. I will miss her guidance and her unique way of looking at the world. She was a very special person and my dear friend." Donna Curtis
