This is our main event in combating litter! Usually held in March, it is our largest cleanup of the year. We have been participants in this Keep America Beautiful tradition since 1990. We feel that these community cleanups are a great way to foster teamwork and community pride while keeping communities clean and attractive. For further information, please contact Keep America Beautiful.
Shreveport Green is holding the 17th Annual Great American Cleanup Kickoff on Saturday, March 8, 2008! Local neighborhood organizations such as faith-based institutions, civic and social organizations, school clubs and youth organizations will participate by litter cleanup and beautifying public spaces. We will provide bags, give cleanup advice, lend gloves, and even give the first 600 people to sign up a free t-shirt! After cleaning up, a celebration will be held at the State Fair Grounds to thank the volunteers. Free food and prizes will be part of the celebration!
This event will invite and encourage citizens to do something about our littered streets and public areas. By raising public awareness, we hope to decrease the amount of visible litter on the streets! This event will kick off three months of service, which include additional cleanups, enhancement projects, and recycling events from March 1st-May 31st!! For more information, please call Casaundra Calloway at 219-1888.
