Adopt-A-Spot

Statement of Purpose

The Adopt-A-Program is a beautification and litter control program facilitated by Shreveport Green. This program enables citizens to demonstrate their community pride by taking part in removing litter from a park, road, or street. Citizens are making their neighborhoods cleaner and safer by adopting areas and keeping them litter free. These volunteers not only provide a community service, they also help relieve the City of some of the financial burden of maintaining Shreveport's parks and roads.

Who Can Adopt?

Anyone can adopt! Individuals, neighborhood groups, church groups, civic and social organizations can adopt a road, street, or park in Shreveport and Caddo Parish. For parks, adopters can simply agree to keep their area litter free or provide total area upkeep which includes watering plants and cutting grass and weeds. Adopted streets and roads usually only require litter pick-up. Additional beautification efforts can be coordinated through Shreveport Green, Shreveport Parks and Recreation, Department of Transportation and Development, Shreveport Department of Public Works, and Caddo Public Works.

Community Recognition for Adopting Organizations

In exchange for providing upkeep and maintaining litter control for a park, road, or street, the adopting organization will receive recognition through a community awareness sign. The sign will display your organization's name at the adopted site for the entire length of the adoption period.
